About MNTN

MNTN is a free web-based tool that integrates a metronome and tuner in one screen. With the concept "Your musical foundation, one screen," it supports musicians' practice sessions.

Why We Built MNTN

Two essential tools for music practice: a metronome and a tuner.

However, in most apps and web tools, these functions are separated. During practice, you face the hassle of "practice with metronome → switch to tuner app for tuning → switch back to metronome."

"Why can't we put these two frequently-used functions on one screen?"

This simple idea gave birth to MNTN.

Additionally, traditional metronomes have a problem called "metronome dependency"—musicians can't play steadily without the click sound. Internal timing (inner sense of rhythm) doesn't develop.

MNTN was developed to solve both of these challenges.

Other Features

What is Backbeat Mode?

The most distinctive feature of MNTN is "Backbeat Mode," which gradually reduces click sounds to develop internal timing.

Lv1: All Beats

Clicks sound on every beat.

Lv2: Backbeat Emphasis

In 4/4 time, beats 2 and 4 are emphasized with louder clicks.

Lv3: Backbeats Only

In 4/4 time, clicks sound only on beats 2 and 4. You must maintain beats 1 and 3 internally.

Lv4: Complete Silence

No click sounds at all, only visual feedback. You rely entirely on your internal timing.

Start with Lv1 until stable, then progress to Lv2. Once Lv2 is stable, advance to Lv3, then Lv4. This gradual training helps you develop a stable sense of rhythm independent of the metronome.

About the Developer

MNTN was created by Minimal Order, a folktronica and ambient music artist.

Born from a commitment to "ease of use in real practice situations," this is a tool by a musician, for musicians.
